DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - ZORZAL ORGANICBack to overview
In Duarte province, the heart of the cacao region in Dominican Republic, Zorzal cacao is grown by 25 farmers and on the Zorzal farm, while biodiversity is conserved and forests restored. And that tastes good! A discovery of an intense chocolaty profile with red fruits, dried flowers and woody and herbal tones.
Zoral cacao is the result of the dream of Charles Kerchner to combine biodiverstiy convseration with fine flavour cacao production. In Zorzal reserve 410 of hectares of forest are conserved, and this is part of a larger plan to create in an ecological corridor in the Northern Mountain range. 25 farmers provide wet beans to Zorzal fermentary, where careful control of harvest, fermentation and drying result in outstanding beans for craft chocolatemakers to work with.
Zorzal employes 7 permanent works and temporary workers.
