DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – ZORZAL ORGANIC

In the province of Duarte, the heart of the cacao region in the Dominican Republic, Zorzal cacao is grown by 25 farmers. On the Zorzal farm, the biodiversity is conserved and forests restored. And that tastes good! A discovery of an intense chocolaty profile with red fruits, dried flowers and woody and herbal tones.

Supply Chain

100% traceable supply chain. Central fermentation, drying, screening, picking and packing in 70 kg bags. Bags are transported to the port of Caucedo for shipment.

People

Cacao is grown by 25 smallholder-farming families, who receive premium prices for their cacao. They receive training in organic and bird-friendly farming techniques.

Forest & Nature

Cacao grows in agroforestry under a canopy of natural forest. Farmers participating in reforestation are paid for tree planting, which helps to restore a 200 km ecological corridor.
