MADAGASCAR - Sambirano Organic

Back to overview

In the northwest of Madagascar, organic premium cacao grows in the buffer zone of a unique rainforest ecosystem. The beans have an exceptional fruity profile, with berries and cherries, delicate tones of jasmine and vanilla, and hints of citrus bloom.

Smallholder farmers grow cacao in sustainable agroforestry systems, intercropped with mangoes, bananas, coffee, vanilla, etc. Thanks to the organisation of farmers in grass-root cooperatives and a strong a focus on quality, farmers' livelihoods have improved substantially.
